USD is running to new highs and is the strongest of the majors

US dollar making new highs verse the EUR, GBP, CHF, CAD, AUD and NZD

The USD is making new highs versus all the major currencies with the exception of the JPY.  The the greenback is the strongest of the majors with the largest gain coming verse the CAD at 0.54%.

US dollar making new highs verse the EUR, GBP, CHF, CAD, AUD and NZD

EURUSD: The EURUSD is down testing the swing low from August 27 at 1.17346. A move below that level targets another swing area between 1.1723 and 1.17264. The price is now below the 61.8% retracement of the move up from the August 20 low at 1.1757 and the low from yesterday’s trade at 1.1750. Stay below those levels keeps the sellers more control.

EURUSD

GBPUSD: THe GBPUSD as well below the 50% midpoint of the move up from the August 20 low. That level comes in at 1.37569 and would be a close risk level for sellers looking for more downside momentum. The low from yesterday at 1.37636 is a another risk defining level.

On the downside the 1.37257 to 1.35316 is a swing area and the next target on more selling. The 61.8% retracement at 1.37203 is also a downside target to get to and through.

GBPUSD on the hourly chart

USDCHF: The USDCHF as moved above the high from June/July near 0.92742 in trading today and trades at the highest level since April 2001. This week, the price also moved above the September and August highs near 0.92412 (those levels were broken yesterday). The run to the upside took the price above the 61.8% retracement at 0.92632. Today the price bottom near that retracement level and has continued the surge to the upside.

USDCHF on the daily chart

Going back to September 2020, a swing high at that time came in at 0.92956. In March and April of this year the price moved above and below that level. Nevertheless the move above that swing high is another positive/bullish development. The next upside target on the daily chart would come near 0.93606 to 0.93753. Those levels represent swing lows and highs going back to June 2020 (see blue numbered circles).
